Week Of Hell
Saturday, Aug. 02, 2003 - 7:02 pm

Okay, I don't think any day really topped Monday, but that's about the only silver lining to the cloud this week has been.

Tuesday ...seems to have mostly disappeared from my memory. I know I went to Saugatuck in the morning...them I'm pretty sure Britt came over to start pricing...was that the day April came as well? But no...'cause Amanda and Nicole were there the day April was...I'm so lost and confused!

So we'll sum up the week by saying that Tuesday-Thursday were spent with Britt in my garage pricing and organizing stuff for the crazy garage sale. I know Wednesday was cool because the aforementioned Amanda was there and she spent two weeks at EMU earlier this summer! And stayed in the dorm that's going to be mine! Which, no matter what anyone thinks, is absolutely not scandalous. You all know that super militant (yet not neo-nazi, dammit!) feminist me would do so much better in a dorm where she doesn't have to worry about guys being too close. My other top choice is the honors dorm. Partly because they're huge, compared to Downing rooms. The rooms are about the same size, but Downing crams 4 women in a room, while Wise (the honor's dorm) only has two. Go figure.

But I grilled Amanda for info all day. Found out the campus is extremely gay-friendly, which makes me very happy. And right after Amanda said she'd seen a theatre demonstration there, and some theatre guy from the school spoke and set off her gay-dar, who should call me but Dennis Beagen, the head of EMU's theatre department! It was awesome.

On and off all week I've contemplated killing various people. Except Britt. Even though she spent more time at my house this week than at her own (and I won't get to spend time with her again until WEDNESDAY! The horror!). But it rocked. Well, not the contemplation-of-murder, but hanging out with Britt for extended periods of time. But I'm very proud of myself for not killing anyone. Was tempted, especially (I'm sorry, but I have to be honest here) with the way Brad was acting on Friday.

Wow. Friday. Was pretty bad. Ricky came, which rocked, but then Rebecca came, which was the cause of lots of angst. Kind of amusing in retrospect that he and I were both a little uncomfortable with her being there, for the exact same reason (okay, not *exact*...but she's our ex!). A little weird as well (who'd have thought that I'd be angsting with a guy over something like that...ACK! My life is turning into RENT! April's Mimi: our messed up version of a glorified prostitute, and a coke addict ;-).

But the real drama of the day was Brad being...rather not cool all day. And I can say this here because I've already been very forthright with him on this fact (and earned lots of respect from Chris for that; I guess he's quite impressed with how honest I am, and how if you're pissing me off I'm going to tell you, lol). But I think he made it on to everyone's shit list after Friday. To his credit, he did call me later to apologize, for irritating me and for hitting on Rebecca a little(I repeat: I don't care!). But, as I've already said, I'm not the only person who needs to be apologized to.

And I do feel kinda bad, because he did get pretty excluded today. We had chairs all lined up for garage sale workers to sit in (we set this up before Chris and Brad showed) and when Chris and Brad showed up there was a spot in the row (or half in-half out) for Chris, but Brad ended up fairly seperated. When when he and Chris showed up, Britt and John attack-hugged Chris, but completely ignored Brad. He was still on my list at that point, so I simply didn't get up to hug either of them, until Chris made it over to the group and hugged me (he's my bitchort, he better have hugged me!).

The day was pretty bad. Not in the stress sense, though there was a little of that (although I was much less murderous today), but...we created a veto ball. Every time we vetoed someone, we threw a little foam ball at them. I was the only one who managed to avoid it all day ;-) 'Cause I'm the practical one who thinks before she speaks, thus only gets vetoed when she wants to be, or is around people who are just dirty, dirty, DIRTY. Wait. Did April get the veto ball? I don't remember. Mostly is was passed between Chris and John. Jenny and Brad got it a few times, Britt did a couple, and Laura got it once. LAURA! But I don't remember if April did (she was being pretty quiet as well).

The sale itself rocked. Even if I was complaining all morning 'cause we started setting up around 7 (well, April and I did. No one else showed up for awhile :-Þ@them! heehee). I'd been up since 6:15. Bleh. But through two days we made over $400 for the GSA. I wonder how much of that business came from the Trading Post...that's this program on a local radio station that a guy I knew from school was hosting today! So I called in, advertised the garage sale, and then added "And we want to say that we love Josh Windisch." Kinda freaked him out I think "Who's this?" he said, so I told him and we chatted for a second. It rocked.

Okay. So what have I done outside of the sale? Not a hell of a lot. Wednesday night I rented Sims for GameCube ~grin~ Played from 9:00 that night to 4:30 the next morning, then from 9:30 to almost 4. 16 hours of Sims in practically one day. Quite proud. Haven't had a chance to play nearly that much since then, :-Þ, since I had to get up early both Friday and Saturday morning. Britt and I played a little Thursday afternoon before we started sale stuff, then I played with Brad last night.

After Sims, April, John and I went to see Mattress at Red Barn. If any of you have the chance GO SEE IT TOMORROW. Sunday's show is the last at the Red Barn this year. They've just lost way too much money, so they're closing without doing two of their shows (and one I really wanted to see. Quilters has a monologue about the demise of Sunbonnet Sue!). Their Mattress is hilarious. Some of the acting is slightly below my show's (their King doesn't even begin to compare to Dave, and it kind of freaks me out how the Queen spends about 75-80% percent of the show talking to the audience. I adore their Dauntless, though. Dave's a sweetie, but there is a level of sweetness that can only be acheived by gay men ;-) but they get to have all the adult humor we *wanted*, but couldn't have since we're community theatre in Holland. And their Spanish Panic isn't the chicken dance on crack! Who knew it was possible?! Oh, and the story of Fafner has motions! Fafner ~claw and hiss~!

On the way to the Barn, my car started acting funny, and it did on the way back as well. Terrified me. My dad's theory is I got bad gas, but then why did it wait two weeks and half a tank to affect my car? So lost and confused. So April and I took her car to Steak 'n' Shake after the show, where we spent about an hour and a half just talking. It was quite fun. Got to hear another side of the Brad/April soaprish (do not ask me to divulge the details of the conversation, Brad. I've given you all I feel comfortable telling you at this point. Besides, it was midnight after one of the longest days of my life; not all of it is very clear to me anymore), so I feel much more informed, and can see where April and Britt are coming from in a lot of their feelings. I don't agree with all of them, but I don't agree with everything Brad's feeling again, and so long as all parties involved understand that, I think we're okay. Doing my hardest not to take either side, but both are making it kind of hard sometimes.

Anyway, today after the sale we caravaned to Goodwill, then Brad and Chris stayed for quite awhile and we talked. It was fun. Chris needs to get his license so I can get to see him and just the bitchorts can hang out! Love the group, but they don't understand the intricacies of being evil bitchorts.

I think Rick and Chris need to meet. They talked for about two seconds on MSN today (after Rick hit me! I don't understand! I finally dropped a house on his head, since he was getting into a Wizard of Oz theme) and I think they'd get along, lol. Besides, they both think I'm one of the coolest lesbians in the world, so they obviously have impeccable taste ;-)

In other news, I love it when I appear in other people's diaries. Mike dubbed me 'crazy lesbian girl,' lol. I like that title (can we add 'crazy' to the huge list of adjectives we came up with to describe my militant feminism?). And you're absolutely right, Mike. We should hang out. Yes indeed I'm kinda quiet, but I think you nailed the reason: you're not a theatre geek, and what do I talk about outside of theatre, Animorphs and bad gay jokes? There is a limit, lol.

Random: why is 'Freaky Friday' starting on a Wednesday?

Anyway, if I don't get some sort of message from Mike that he's read this, I'm going to e-mail him and see what we can do about hanging out before I take off for Eastern (27 days! And I'm visiting Monday and Tuesday!). Hee, maybe he'll come along for one of the half a dozen movie days we're planning between now and my exodus to Ypsie. April and I need '80s movie day, and possibly Muppet movie day ('cause the only '80s movie we want to watch that doesn't incorporate Muppets is Land Before Time. Although we want to see a Muppet movie that wasn't in the '80s as well...Muppet Treasure Island rocks. And has Tim Curry in it! ~bow before Frank 'n' Furter~). Then we need a random day to catch John up on the wonders of the cinema he's missed, like Legally Blond and Fifth Element (Chris is as in love with the Diva Opera scene and just the editing in general as I am. Yay! According to him some people don't like the opera scene, but I'm not sure I can believe that. That sounds as crazy as Britt being 100% straight ;-). Chris and I want to throw the Fairly Odd Parents movie I just saw advertised on Nickelodeon into that day as well. 'Cause how cool is that?

Okay...I think I'm all caught up ~knows as soon as she posts this she'll remember everything that happened Tuesday...but will be too lazy to write it up~. I'm going to go play Sims now, although it'd be more fun if Britt was here (she was supposed to stay after the sale to play it with me while we relaxed with the knowledge that the sale was over and we're never going to have to spend that much time together again. We'll probably see each other less while we're living together to freak her mom out! So now she's home...tomorrow she works...Monday and Tuesday I'm in Ypsie...unless we get together after she works, I'm not going to see Britt until Wednesday! I'm going to go through withdrawal!). So...yeah. I'd sign off with a fun random quote...but I forget a lot of them we've come up with. Dammit, why weren't we taking notes? I know there was one about death from Wednesday or Thursday....

Hey! I remember Tuesday! And before I posted this, even...wow...anyway, April *was* here that day, because she, Britt and I watched Boy Meets Boy and part of Queer Eye together. I don't know if I'm going to obsessively watch Boy Meets Boy (he got rid of the guy who's just coming out, but kept the guy with fidelity issues?! The hell?!! And the pretensious Robb who spells his name with two Bs!), but if I can watch with Britt and April on 3-way, all would be well, and the sheer entertainment of watching TV via the phone would make up for everything.

Really leaving now....
