Sandboxes and Whittling
Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003 - 1:09 am

Whee! I did indeed get off my grounding early, so I got to go out to see Wyoming Park's show!!! ~happy dance~

They did four plays. Well, more like three and a tiny fraction, since one called "Breath" was, literally, the whole cast taking a deep sigh. I'm not joking.

But seeing "Sandbox" again was friggin' awesome. It really says a lot for those guys that I was laughing just as hard as the first time I saw it. A little harder at times too, actually. Either I was catching new things, or some things were different (like Mommy got much more violent this time around). It was great.

And I found out some things that happened at Districts werne't intentional, but were covered so well, I never knew!

Like they cleared their whole set, except for Grandma and her sandbox at the end, then the "director" came out and called "Clear!" We're all in the audience going "um, no..." and then they finally came out and cleared off Grandma. It was hilarious! We loved it!

Found out tonight that that only happened because the people in charge of striking Grandma missed their cue. I was shocked. But these people are really good at thinking on their feet. 'Cause tonight the umbrella that Mommy and Daddy sat under began to fall. Someone finally came out and just took it away, and Mommy spun around and glared at the guy. It was so great!

Afterwards, we were attacked by Wyoming Park people. Everyone wanted to come up and talk to the West Ottawa people, and they made me do the "Whittling" dance twice! God, I was so embarrased. But it was quite fun.

Well, except the whole thing with Brad kinda creeped me out...what is it with guys named Brad finding me attractive?

Okay, for those who don't know (yet were at Districts) Brad was the guy we were all infatuated with. Spartacus. And yes, he was just as brilliant tonight (and arguably a bit more buff. I didn't think he was, but apparently my view of the male physique is jaded, lol) as he was at Districts. But as soon as he saw me out in the lobby afterwards, he latched on to me and was hitting on me so overtly I felt crushed. I swear, that's the most awkard situation ever, having someone hit on you who you are just physically not capable of liking that way. But he was fun. All the Wyoming Park people were. We helped them strike, got hugs from their director (whom Jake was drooling over, lol) and were even invited to the cast party. Unfortunately, Alicia's parents wouldn't let her go, and no one could give us a ride back to Holland (first Brad wanted to, but his parents wouldn't let him, and then Grandma was going to, but the same thing happened. And I completely udnerstand. It's a bit of a trip from Holland to Wyoming Park, especially if you don't know the city very well. And it was going to be really late/early) so we just came home. But the whole crew is invited to come see Laramie Project with us next week, so I've already sent e-mails to Brad and Chris (Daddy. And a really sweet guy who, all of us girls think, likes Jake.) and Jake's gonna e-mail their director (hopefully. Jake needs to get an e-mail address that will actually receive messages from the guy first) and we're all gonna get together. We'll take up half the auditorium.

So. Hm. What else....

I don't think there is anything else to say. The day was rather uneventful, aside from the Wyoming Park expedition. On streets that don't exist ;-)

Oh! I made it into Jen's AIM profile ~grin~ She thinks I should just sneak out of the house tomorrow to go see The Dining Room. 'Cause "it's not like it's a crazy ass party thing." I said "Yeah, but almost every excursion with you turns into a "crazy ass" party" And now it's in her profile. Yea!

Well, I need to go to bed. I think I'm coming down with whatever illness my mom had last week :-Þ Bleh.

Sounds like a tomato to me.
