Where Has Spring Break Gone?
Wow. I went a week without updating. Bet ya' all are wondering what the hell happened to me, huh?
Saturday, Apr. 12, 2003 - 10:21 pm Saturday night I did just what I said I'd do last week: went over to Jake's and watched movies and just generally hung around. He spent the better part of an hour trying to get me to reveal the identity of one of the guys who has a crush on him. Three guys (that we know of) like Jake. One is really obvious, the other everyone (except Jake) has figured out/has been told about. The third...is only known by Nicole. Anyway, Jake kept asking me for clues about the identity of Crusher number 2. Thanks to my poker face and less-than-truthful answers, Jake thinks he knows a lot about the guy, but really doesn't know anything except he goes to our school, I know him, and that there's an 'N' in his name. Sunday I sat around Mrs. Rutan's house and read. The woman has books everywhere. I don't know why I bothered to check out my own books before break. So I spent Sunday reading most of Harry Potter #4 (gotta get caught up before the fifth book comes out). Monday...don't remember what exactly I did. Except work in the evening. Oh! Wait! Monday Nicole, Jake and I went over to Cameron's house to dye his hair (Cameron is the 8th grader we know through BBYA and GSA...dah, too many letters). Then we watched 'Legally Blonde' with Cameron's hick cousin, who didn't understand Nicole's, Cameron's and my need to critique the movie. At one point we were criticizing Elle's outfit and the Cousin said something about us over analyzing way too much, then looked at Jake, who was just sitting on the couch quietly, and said "I know what he's thinking. He's thinking 'I'd fuck her.'" Nicole, Cameron and I started laughing to the point of crying, while Jake felt extremely dirty, the poor kid, and the Cousin looked extremely confused. Tuesday...Nicole and I wanted to go out and do something, but couldn't come up with anything that could be done before I had to go to work. After work I had to deal with the emergency situation that Nicole referenced in her diary a few days ago. I was all set to drive Jake and our friend back to Mrs. Rutan's house to get them out of harm's way. My getaway car wasn't needed, thank goodness, but it made me feel really good that I could have helped. That I had the resources and that Jake (and I presume the others involved) trusted me enough to know that I'd do everything I could to help. Though Jake got really into the whole secrecy thing that was required. He gave our friend a code name, referred to the guy's mom in code, and then said that they were going to need some help. "From Hattie." Our friend thought that the phone lines may have been tapped, so Jake was being cautious. Maybe a little too cautious, but when you're freaking out, sometimes the strangest things make sense. Wednesday I worked in the morning, and I mean worked. For once. First customer came in at 10:20 (the mall opens at ten), bought $60-some worth of stuff, and we'd had the truck come in that morning, so I got to unpack things. Found half a dozen new products that I want. I think I'm gonna make a list and make my mom buy me some stuff. Hey, maybe I can wheedle some out of her if I don't make her buy me a new outfit for my aunt's wedding.... I went home after work since at some point during the day a cleaning lady was over at Mrs. Rutan's. Zack, a guy I first met over IM and is now in the play with me (as Alfred), was extremely bored and needed to be rescued, so I took him out to Barnes & Noble for hot chocolate for an hour before I went to the Holland Brew Pub to meet up with the Mattress folks. God, what an event that was. Gramma Gail about had a heart attack when I told her I was seriously reconsidering being an actor. Crackwhore and Stunt Wench (Lynn and Carrie, respectively) were a little surprised, but were supportive. Dave Gorno (a part of the Mattress cast for a few weeks before dropping out to go back to school) and I decided we need to set up RENT nights at the theatre. Get a bunch of people together, rehearse a couple of times during the week, and then perform a few scenes from RENT on Friday or Saturday nights, for free. Advertise through word-of-mouth. It'd be so cool. Thursday was my day off. Jake, Britt and April were having Anime Day over at Jake's house, which left Nicole and I out, so I went over to her house for the afternoon. It was good stuff. And then there's Friday. Worked in the morning, had movie night...at night, lol. Scandalized poor Jake while watching 'But I'm a Cheerleader' ("What's she doing with the flashlight?" Five minutes later, he figures it out and has one of his patented freak outs. I'm now leaving him a flashlight in my senior will). Then we watched X-Men and about an hour of the documentary thing on the special 1.5 edition thing. Jake, April and I were the only ones left, so April and I decided we needed to watch Fraggles (having to stop every five minutes to explain the nuances of it to Jake). I've decided that the Grapes of Generosity are stalking me. Every time I start watching Fraggles, I end up grabbing the tape with 'The Grapes of Generosity' on it first. Gah! So i freaked out over that. Then we watched April's 'Puff the Magic Dragon' from 1978 and decided that not only does Fafner get hair on our next German poster, but we're gonna write a theme song for him (Music Theory finally comes in handy). Today I finally had to leave Mrs. Rutan's house ~sigh~ I'm gonna miss that place. Large, well-lit, open house with vaulted ceilings absolutely filled with books. And cats. I'm gonna miss having a cat sleep with me every night. As I told Rick, I'm going to someday be a crazy old lesbian with a house full of books and cats. I already have the crazy part down, only have three to go ;-) Dad took me out to lunch at 84 East. We had a political discussion that didn't denegrate into an argument. I was shocked, but proud of us. Then, because I'm now claustrophobic at home, I went out hoping to buy a new outfit for Aunt Laura's wedding. She gets married on Friday and I don't really have anything good to wear. I almost found something at Salvation Army...but decided I can't really pull off an extra small dress. If I could lose ten pounds by Friday, maybe, but that's not about to happen. I have a meeting at work at 8 tomorrow morning :-Þ Then at 11 I'm going out for lunch with Britt and at some point in the afternoon I'm gonna be working for a few hours. The exact times will be determined at the meeting tomorrow. My next pay check is gonna be huge (in comparison to the $26.84 check I got this week, at least). I worked 17.83 hours last week, and I'm gonna work something like 8 or 9 in the next. At least...I think these two weeks get put on the same check. I can't keep track of silly things like that. I still need to ask Chris to prom.... --Angela -
