I've Met People!

I've met a bunch of really cool new people today :-)

During orientation crap today, I started talking to some of the girls in my group who live across the hall from me. Amy and Brittany (I think that's how she spells it...whatever. I'll call her Brittany and Brittany-in-Holland will be Britt). We made plans to eat dinner together, and when we were looking for a place to sit we found a table where three other girls were sitting and asked if we could join them. That was Susan, Stacie and Felicia (sp?). They're awesome. Susan is a lot like Britt. It's almost scary. I'm in Susan and Stacie's dorm right now. We're watching Drumline. Felicia is staying the night here.

I've had tons of fun with them already tonight. I've come out to them already (funny story there) and now I've got them saying 'That's so straight!' instead of 'that's so gay!'

Felicia had to stop by another Downing room earlier this evening to see if a friend was in there. The friend wasn't, but her roomates were, so we invited them to come along with us since they were about to head over to Phelps (where Susan and Stacie live) anyway. As we were walking we naturally split in to two groups: Stacie, Susan and Felicia up front, me and the two other girls behind. The new girls were making lewd comments to a guy (a la Devil's Panties ;-) and when he didn't respond they called him a fag and one girl said "I can't stand faggots. I want to beat the shit out of them."

I started walking a lot faster to join the other girls. Then those new girls disappeared and I explained what happened to the others.

Anyway. Coming out to them. It was hilarious. I was describing my roomates and how much I really don't like them, and said how the first personal question they asked me was if I had a boyfriend. Susan then says "What would you have said if they asked you if you had a girlfriend?" I answered "No, but I"m looking!" She laughed and asked if that was just to mess with them and I said no, it's the truth. We've bonded instantly. Susan and Felicia have been attached to their phones all night (but for some reason I didn't find this obnoxious like with Amanda and Elise. Maybe because these were phone calls to parents and siblings and, once, a boyfriend. But no big sob stories. And I talked to Susan's boyfriend, lol) and one of the first things they've always said is how they met cool new people. "Like my friend Angela, who's over here right now."It's great.

Saw the theatre troupe I want to join today. They did an orientation program that was more helpful than anything else I've seen this weekend. And they had a skit about a gay guy! I was really excited to see that. Anyway, the troupe is CloseUp, and they write all their own material and perform about issues that are relevant to college students. Auditions are the 17th and 18th, from 6-7 for me. So that's where I'm gonna be :-)

Oh, Susan et al love Queer Eye. If for some reason I can't watch it over in my dorm, I think I'm gonna call them and kinda invite myself over to watch it, lol. Maybe I'll even do that this week, and have Britt call my cell and then she can "meet" all these awesome people as well. None of them watch BmB though :-( And this wouldn't be a good week for them to start. I'd be screaming too much to have time to explain things, lol.

Hm. I'm beginning to get tired. I think I'm gonna call the escourt service to bring me back to Downing. I don't want to walk around at 11 at night, when I'm not entirely positive where my dorm is. I *think* I know. I'd probably know as soon as I stepped out of the dorm. But why invite trouble my second night at school?

Tomorrow is the program on the LGBTRC. World's longest acronym ;-) RC is resource center. I really need to go to that, and I think I'll go to the theatre one as well, to learn about all the different theatre groups 'cause the woman leading us around didn't know jack about anything. It's really sad. I want to know what other groups I want to look at auditioning for, especially since they allegedly signed me up for an Encore audition....

Okay. Heading off now. Buh-bye. Love ya' all.
